WM Changes to Verifiable Items
Process to move a Verifiable Item to Not Verifiable (and how to avoid pitfalls)
The process to change a ‘Verifiable’ item to ‘Not Verifiable’ is easy (refer to this video link for basic steps), although it can only be performed by certain roles (e.g. the Warranty Inspector role).
Because Clipboard is an app designed to work ‘offline’ and can be accessed by multiple people at the same time, the following points can help your teams avoid issues with moving items to the ‘Not Verifiable’ status:
Do not move items to Not Verifiable on the day of the Verification Inspection.
Why? When items are moved too close to the Verification Inspection, it’s possible the Inspector has already synced all the items to their device and they won’t receive the update if they’re in an area with a weak cell signal
After moving items to Not Verifiable, keep the app open for ~ 20-30 seconds to ensure your changes sync. It’s a best practice to go to the ‘More’ screen and hit the ‘SYNC STATUS DETAILS’ button to view your sync activity and ensure everything is up to date.
Why? Because Clipboard is designed to work ‘offline’, changes that are made need to sync from your device before they’ll be made available to others.
Project Managers expecting an item(s) to be changed to ‘Not Verifiable’ should verify their device has synced the changes by clicking on the item and ensuring it’s shown as ‘Not Verifiable’ BEFORE making any other changes to this item.
Why? If a Project Manager makes changes to the item (e.g. moves it to ‘No Action’ if it won’t be completed, or assigns a vendor if it’s expected to be completed after the Verification Inspection) before their device syncs changes made by others to move the item to ‘Not Verifiable’, then the Project Manager changes will overwrite the previous changes. This is because Clipboard is designed to work ‘offline’ and always accepts whichever changes have been the most recent to be received.
